Canon held Canon Kid Photographers 2026, a photography program for children designed to teach children about the appeal of photography and the joy of creative expression. Participants enjoyed a variety of activities, including a camera workshop led by a professional photographer, a hands-on photography session held during an actual competition, and a presentation of their work.

Step 01
Camera Workshop
Aflo Sport photographer Yohei Osada led a workshop on camera basics and photography techniques, giving children a firsthand understanding of how photographers capture moments through their images.

Step 02
Photography Session
The children then showed what they had learned in the workshop by photographing an actual basketball game. Each child successfully captured the excitement of the game and the athletes in action from their own perspectives.

Step 03
Presentation
The program concluded with a presentation where each child selected and presented his or her best photo and received feedback and advice from Mr. Osada.

Comments from the participants
Next time, I want to catch the moment a player celebrates a win!

I tried to capture what makes sports exciting and inspiring. It was difficult, but I had fun.

I tried to keep my eyes on the players and the ball as much as possible while taking photos.

I learned how I can improve my photos. Next time, I’d like to photograph basketball again and take better shots.

I had a lot of fun learning how to use a camera and taking photos.

I focused on the players’ facial expressions so that I could take photos capturing how they feel.

I take a lot of photos, but today I took some of my best shots ever. It was so much fun!

The camera was heavy, but fun to use. Next time, I want to take a picture of tabletop tennis, which is my hobby.

I want to try shooting a basketball game again.

Comment
I hope the children [participating in the Canon Kid Photographers event] will discover the joy and appeal of sport through sport photography. I would also be delighted if the event inspires even just one of them to want to become a sport photographer.
